Fondée en 1989, la Société française d’Histoire de la dermatologie (SFHD) est étroitement liée à la History of Dermatology Society et à la European Society for the History of Dermatology and Venereology. Les buts de ces Sociétés sont :
- stimuler les travaux, publications concernant l'histoire de la dermatologie et des maladies sexuellement transmissibles.
- Organiser des réunions scientifiques sur ces sujets, favoriser leur enseignement
- Valoriser et défendre le patrimoine de la dermatologie dans le monde entier.
